Spring

No I didn’t forget how to take pictures it’s just been awhile. It was a very lovely day for pictures even in this crazy wind. I really just enjoyed getting out and doing what I love. New ones are always at the end I don’t know why.

way over due

You maybe asking where in the world have I been, well I’m still here. I’m just not that good at this whole blogging thing. Anything that require me to me to spell makes me Run the other way. So I will try better to post more. I’ve been sitting at the computer all morning playing with a few shots for a junk yard, more pictures to come maybe tomorrow. Just head over to the art photography. The new ones are always on the bottom and don’t know why :(

Nearing the End

Well I just finished batch converting the last set of images from the wedding, and they are ready for minor editing. We still have A LOT of images to review and pick the best from them so we can keep them down to a manageable amount. The editing should be done by tomorrow evening and then it’s onto the long selection process, after which, we should be into finalization. We may have a bit of time to go a little artistic with a few images, but only time will tell :) . Stay tuned.

Few Pics Up

There are a few pictures up in the portraits gallery, the newest ones are at the bottom of the page since there is no way to order them yet…sorry.

Pics are Coming

I just wanted to let you know that the review and editing process continues from the wedding shoot. Some pics will be placed here and others may be placed on facebook, but I have to explain why it is taking so long to get done. First, Toni and I were exhausted, and we have been home shopping, but we are recovering and the home shopping is over. But the larger issue is the process of delivering images and such. It may seem a bit overboard, but this is the most secure and efficient workflow that I have found that produces good images.

Step one: Make sure that all images are off loaded from all of the memory cards and placed on a hard drive. In this case we brought the laptop with us and downloaded what we could when we could.

Step two: Copy images from laptop to desktop. I should have done this through a wired transfer, because the transfer rate is faster. It took a few hours to complete the 25+GB transfer, but I got all of them.

Step three: Find left over images on memory cards and transfer them over to the proper directories that were previously setup before step two.

Step four: Copy all of these onto a separate hard drive (now the images reside on 3 of them) and use only one hard drive for the editing leaving the other two alone in case something happens.

Step five: Review images and delete bad or redundant pics. This can take some time to do, but is well worth it, for it thins out the bunch.

Step six: Review and start manipulating images in editing software designed for RAW images. This is where exposure is changed, white balance corrected, some noise is removed, and sharpness is adjusted.

Step seven: Batch process images into editable JPG images in sub-directories, make cropping changes, straighten images, further remove digital camera noise, enhance and touch-up pics, then save so the images are compressed. The batch processing from RAW to JPG somehow does not reduce file size until re-saved from editing software.

Step eight: Repeat process until all directories are finished.

Step nine: Package and present.

All in all, this takes several hours to do, and since I divided the directories into chronological, moments, I didn’t feel that we had much variety to show quite yet, but I am getting closer. I feel, that by the end of the night, there will be some images that can be posted, but it all depends on how the day plays out and when I get to strap myself into the editing chair. If nothing shows up tonight, then definitely tomorrow.

Thanks for your patience.
